Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. It's easy to find inspiration from amazing pet parents like yourself!

Such a fun post! They’re all beautiful and I love the nicknames. My dad was named Herbert, so those were particularly funny to me.

Was he a "character?" Every Herbert I knew was someone I was glad to know!

Oh, TOTALLY! He was a quiet guy for the most part but when he spoke, he had some zingers 😆

Amy—glad you found this, too! I was going to tell Cindy about your great term “after market names” for all of the impromptu names our fur babies acquire!

I like it! "After market names" it is!

Ha, that was a good one, right? It’s so funny to me how this is a common phenomenon in pet households without anyone even discussing it beforehand 😂

Our kids acquired nicknames but not as many as the pets. Do you think this says something about my depth of love for one over the other?! :)

I think maybe it says more about how sensitive humans are about acquiring certain nicknames compared to animals 🤭

Maybe it is an offshoot of the same instinct that makes people talk to babies in high voices in baby talk…

How do I send a DM?

Hi Lola, on your “home” page where there are tiles at the top with images of people’s posts and icons on going down the left side, choose the icon with the talk bubble on top of the other talk bubble. It will take you to the “chat” page. At the top, under “Chat” is a search bar. Type in my name, Cindy Ojczyk. My circle photo and name should appear. At the bottom center of the page that comes up should be a place to write a message. Way to the right at the bottom is the icon for adding photos.
