Love this! I understand how Dr. Amber felt because of my cat, Merlin. He hated the vet with a passion and was a tough patient. Deep inside, I knew his death was coming. I choose to let him have the dignity of staying at home, giving him lots of love and attention. Instead of constant vet visits.

So often people will say “I can’t get another dog, it was too painful when I lost Fluffy, I can’t go through that again.” I don’t understand that, honestly. Which is harder, seeing your beloved pet through to a compassionate end, or living without one? For me, it’s no contest. My biggest fear about aging? After falling, of course. Getting too old to be able to have a dog.

Love it! My dogs have definitely made me more courageous. Advocating for them heals people pleasing tendencies 😛 because saying no to a person for the wellbeing of my dogs is a no brainer .. and once in the habit, I started to say nomore often for my own benefit too.

Thanks for sharing our story Cindy. Pet loss isn’t always validated in our society, I hope that others can read these stories and feel like their grief is understood ❤️ And I love how you highlight the impact of pets in our lives.
