Why PetStack?

While Temple Grandin wrote the book, Animals Make Us Human, PetStack illuminates our connection to their intelligence, compassion, inspiration, and love.

This is a space to celebrate cats, dogs, horses, guinea pigs, chickens, hamsters, fish, birds, and other furry, feathered, scaled, and slithering family members.

I say “family” because, yes, pets are family. Humans may have domesticated animals to serve a purpose, but in doing so, we’ve created mirrors of ourselves and extensions of those we welcome into our lives. Let’s give them their due!

Share your pet(s) tale

If you’d like your pet(s) to be featured in a future edition, please:

1. Contact me

   1. Send a DM (direct message) to me, Cindy Ojczyk, on Substack

   2. OR subscribe to the PetStack newsletter (it’s free!) and respond to the newsletter email.

2. Include 3 to 6 pictures of your pet(s). If it’s the same pet, be sure to send pictures that are different in some way - perhaps sitting in a different part of your house or in a different part of an enclosure.

3. Include 1 to 3 short paragraphs about your relationship with your pet(s) and their unique qualities you’d like to share with others. Note alignment with any themes below.

4. Some themes I will be highlighting:

   1. Intelligence: What surprises you most about your pet and the things they know/can do?

   2. Compassion: How does your pet express compassion and consideration for you, a family member, another pet?

   3. Inspiration: How does your pet inspire you?

   4. Humor: How does your pet make you laugh?

   5. Love: How does your pet express love to you or another pet?

   6. Remember: Let’s remember those pets who’ve crossed the rainbow bridge but remain front and center in our minds.

   7. Why: What is it about your pet that creates such a special bond?

   8. Courage: How does your pet display courage and bravery?

   9. Purpose: What is it about caring for your pet that gives you purpose?

   10. Activity: What types of activities do you do with your pet?

   11. Family: Why do you consider your pets part of your family?

   12. Rescue: Who rescued whom and why?
